Another Sadness
This year has been very hard on my. First I lost my beautiful sister in May. On Wednesday, September 14, I lost my brother. Sadly, I don't have a picture of him to post.

The Silver Screw
This is from a good friend. Love it, so I'm sharing!!
THE SILVER SCREW
Once upon a time, a young lad was born without a belly button. In its place was a silver screw. All the doctors told his mother that there was nothing they could do.
Like it or not, he was stuck with it . . . He was screwed.
All the years of growing up were real tough on him, as all who saw the screw made fun of him. He avoided leaving his house . . . And thus, never made any friends.
One day, a mysterious stranger saw his belly and told him of a monk in Tibet who could get rid of the screw for him. He was thrilled. The next day, he took all of his life's savings and bought a ticket to Nepal.
After several days of climbing up steep cliffs, he came upon a giant monastery. The monk knew exactly why he had come. The screwy guy was told to sleep in the highest tower of the monastery and the following day when he awoke, the screw would have been removed. The man immediately went to the room and fell asleep. During the night while he slept, a purple fog floated in an open window. In the mist floated a solid silver screwdriver. In just moments, the screwdriver removed the screw and disappeared out the window. The next morning when the man awoke, he saw the silver screw laying on the pillow next to him. Reaching down, he felt his navel, and there was no screw there! Jubilant, he leaped out of bed . . . . And his butt fell off. The moral to this is: 'Don't screw around with things you don't understand -- You could lose your *ss.'

Can You Count?
Another visitor counter bites the dust. Honestly? This is like the 3rd one since I've had this blog! Totally messes with my temper. The first one I had to replace, I knew how many visitors I had had before it bit the dust, so that was no big deal. The second one, I had to guess at. This time I can't remember at all! SO totally unfair. Sigh.
I sure wish I could find a visitor counter that wouldn't disappear into thin air because they went "belly up".

Miss Kitty's Spot
No. No. Not the kind that has fur and chases mice. Miss Kitty is this absolutely wonderful young lady that has a blog called Educated & Poor. She's smart, funny, loves chikkins, kittehs and goggies... and has a mother that can do absolutely amazing things with some cloth and a pattern. In her post today she has some absolutely amazing vintage patterns posted. RIP Destiny Rose Benson
Things have been hectic this summer. We thought we were going to melt when the temps reached over 100ยบ (we have no air conditioning), but we didn't melt!
There is a note of great sadness in our family. Our six year old great-granddaughter passed away this past Tuesday. Her funeral was Friday. It's a long story, but the short version is she was the surviving twin (the other great-granddaughter passed away at 23 days old). They were just a little over one pound each when they were born. They were premature (26 weeks, I think) and my little Rose Bud (her name was Destiny Rose) was born with some very serious issues. She perservered and learned and accomplished things they said she never would. Such a short time to be here, but she touched everyone she knew. She always had a smile on her face and was very rarely ever angry. She loved her older brother and her little brother very much. She will be missed very much, but I'm glad that she was able to teach so many that just because they say you will never do it doesn't mean you won't. ♥

My thoughts:
If you look at Michigan's Wall, remember all of the negative things said about Detroit and then look at which city in Michigan has the most soldiers who gave their lives for their country - right or wrong, whichever way you think of the war -- these soldiers are still heroes.
