Slip Sliding Away

I know I should have posted an update yesterday, but I was just a bit unnerved after we got home.

We were on our way up north. We had decided to go on up even though Mother Nature had dumped about 1 inch of snow on Friday night -- kindly depositing it over a glaze of frozen rain. When we started out, we didn't think it was going to be that bad. But then we got on the express way.
Everything was going OK until we got about 10 miles from home.
There were cars in ditches in one piece, cars that had spun out (or been knocked there by someone else being the reason) and were crumpled in a heap against the braided steel cable fences they had put in place in the summer to keep people from careening onto the other side of the expressway.
We were cautious. The hubs is an excellent driver -- he's been doing it a lot of years :-).
We were almost to Novi -- about 40 miles from home -- when the unforseen happened. We, for no apparent reason other than it was slick as a baby's butt, went into a hard spin. He fought the wheel and got us out of that spin only to immediately go into another one. Six spins (and fingernail prints in my palms) later we were still all in one piece and we made the decision that 222 miles of that was just not worth it. So, we turned around and came home.

It was so scarey that I didn't say a word to him while he was trying to save our behinds... and I usually always have something to say! Of course, after it was all over and we were safely home I did point out that every once in awhile I do know when to keep quiet! LOL

So, I missed seeing my sister and all the family. I'm really sorry for that because I know there won't be too many more family Christmas parties. But I do know that when the weather presents us with a nicer, ice-free day, we are going to head up "just because" and at least see Sissy.
(I have absolutely no idea why it will put some returns in my post and not others! Sorry about it looking like a 2 year old did it.)
